Danny Green formed the band Laish in Brighton in 2008 and became part of the Willkommen Collective (Sons of Noel and Adrian, The Leisure Society, Rozi Plain). Laish have released two records, their eponymous debut (2010), and Obituaries (2013, Folkwit Records), both recorded by Green at his home. Both received much critical acclaim, with radio plays including BBC6 Music (Marc Riley, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe, Chris Hawkins), BBC Radio 3’s The Late Junction, BBC Scotland (Roddy Hart) and Amazing Radio (Dani Charlton).
Now based in London, Green’s move to the capital, after a life immerged in the Brighton music scene, proved a motivation and inspiration.
“I spent a year of gradually learning to love the pace of life in the city and I finally found the nerve to book a real studio and get to work on the album that had been forming during this turbulent period. I was honest with myself about the sounds and the kinds of songs that excite my ears. I wanted to get across a simple truth but for there to be no barriers to the listener, for it to really sound vibrant, sexy and humorous.” Green explains.
